What are the differences between gelatin and vegetarian (HPMC) capsules?
Gelatin Capsules:
Gelatin capsules are made from bovine which comes from livestock like cattle or pigs. Bovine is a byproduct of bones, tissue, and other parts of the body that is boiled down into a “jelly” like substance that allows it to be filled with different substances and expand when in contact of water.
Vegetarian Capsules:
The alternative to gelatin capsules is Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose capsules, HPMC for short. These capsules are plant-based gelatin which are provide for consumers with dietary restrictions or religious backgrounds prohibiting the consumption of animal byproducts.
